Passion & Caring
As the North American steward for the Bäckerhaus Veit tradition, Sabine Veit's personal passion for life and artisan bread making is reflected in the delicious recipes, premium quality, taste and texture of each product created. Every loaf has three generations of bread-baking passion, caring, and authenticity baked in. Sabine believes that artisan breads can be paired with every menu, and will inspire the taste buds of family and friends at every meal.
Respect for Old World Traditions
With three generations of German bread making experience, Bäckerhaus Veit's European trained Master Bakers still use natural sourdoughs instead of yeast, and only the finest natural ingredients. All seeds and grains are hand sorted and soaked for up to six hours to allow for maximum nutritional benefit. Our dough is given the time and temperature needed to develop before it is patiently hand shaped and baked in traditional hearth ovens. Over 100 recipes have been used within the Veit family for decades and these recipes have endured dynamic changes in consumer preferences and customer needs.

Bäckerhaus Veit is one of the few commercial bakeries in North America with a Master Baker, one who learned the authentic skills of European bread making in Germany. With the feel of a small European bread shop, Sabine Veit brings the recipes and ideals from her German roots to the authentic artisan baking process. Bäckerhaus Veit bakers meticulously hand sort the ingredients, shape the dough and hand-score each loaf. Bäckerhaus Veit believes authentic artisan bread is about time and temperature - there are no shortcuts to creating great bread.

At the 52,000 square foot state-of-the-art bakery outside of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Bäckerhaus Veit brings efficiency to the traditional bread-making process. New technology has increased productivity without affecting the quality control or flexibility of Bäckerhaus Veit's Research and Development department. Because of this, Bäckerhaus Veit can bring the craftsmanship and authenticity of a small, local, European village baker to customers across North America.
